Strolling through the cobbled streets of Otranto’s historic centre, one has the impression of taking a plunge into the past. The old town is a true testimony of centuries of history, with its stone houses and narrow alleys telling stories of ancient traditions and trades. Otranto has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in Italy’ and it is easy to see why. Every corner of the city exudes a timeless charm, with its medieval walls embracing the harbour and ancient defence towers telling of centuries of battles and conquests.
In the heart of the historical centre is the Cathedral of Otranto, one of the most important places of worship in Apulia. Founded in the 12th century, the Cathedral is famous for its extraordinary mosaic floor, one of the most fascinating works in Italy. This mosaic, which covers the entire nave, represents an apocalyptic vision of life and death, and is one of the largest and best preserved in the medieval world. Its beauty and symbolism fascinate anyone who observes it, transporting them to a distant era.
But Otranto is not only history. Every corner of the historic centre is animated by small craft workshops, outdoor cafés and restaurants offering typical Salento cuisine. Walking through its narrow streets, one feels a sense of serenity, a place where daily life seems to flow slowly, on a human scale.

Exactly as pictured, friendly and welcoming staff, mid-week they changed the towels and sheets and cleaned the house. Excellent breakfast with a variety of sweet and savoury choices all prepared by them every day. I recommend it to anyone who has to go to these areas for a holiday

We stayed for 3 nights at the campsite.
Definitely one of the best campsites I have ever stayed at in Apulia.
The area is very shady and it’s close to the best beaches.
The price is very honest and inside there is a bar where you can have breakfast and a point where you can buy vegetables, bread, fruit and drinks.
The hygiene of the place is very good, every morning and every afternoon there are people cleaning.
The employees are friendly and very attentive.

We spent 3 nights at the campsite in the shade in the pine forest with all the necessary facilities: clean toilets, showers both hot (for a fee) and cold, possibility of booking breakfast, bread, buns for the next day. Mrs Michela disponibilissima for all information. We took the bus nearby to turn towards Otranto, Torre dell’orso, Lecce. The nearest beach is 800 m. We had a great time and will definitely return

Groot complex met ruime tuin voor comfortabel huisje. In de omgeving is niet zoveel. Weinig winkels en restaurants in de omgeving. Zeer vriendelijke medewerkers en prima ontbijt. Heerlijk rustig. Jammer dat de wifi het alleen deed met haperingen bij de receptie. Zo stond het niet in de omschrijving. Prijs – kwaliteit was goed. De geplaatste foto’s laten te weinig zien en helemaal niets van de kamer. Misschien willen ze niet teveel gasten ontvangen?
